Wool geode pincushion, hand felted merino and Icelandic in purples, amethyst gemstone pin cushion, handmade by me in Arkansas
This hand-felted wool geode pincushion is made by me here in Arkansas. It contains multiple layers of fine merino wool in shades of purple and lavender, plus a thicker, coarser outer layer of natural gray Icelandic wool. A half geode measures approximately 3 inches (or slightly more) in diameter. I use both needle felting and wet felting techniques to felt these pincushions. I think this colorway looks like an amethyst geode. Or maybe purple cabbage? Either way, it is very pretty!
It is a very pretty place to park your pins. Wool is kind to pins, as any residual lanolin (oil) naturally found in wool protects pins from rusting. Additionally, it is easy to push the pins into the pincushion, but they are held firmly in place until needed.
This is a great gift to treat your self or your sewist or quilter friend who is hard to buy for.
You can purchase either a single geode half or a matched pair. The matched pair will be wrapped in tissue plus a ribbon. Either option will clf ome with several decorative pins.
