Pice 60 Weight Japanese Thread for EPP Hand Piecing (500m)
🌸Pice (pronounced "Piece") hand piecing thread by the Japanese manufacturer Fujix. This thread is hard to find in the US, as it is made for the Japanese English Paper piecing community (which has been around for years). 🌸This is 60 weight polyester thread put up in 500m (546 yards) wooden spools. It is quite strong and quite fine, perfect for your EPP projects.
🌸According to the manufacturer Fujix:
"Developed as the ideal thread for the piecing process of patch work, and for applique sewing, this thread is fine and strong. It is a left-hand-twisted thread which allows for smooth hand sewing and beautiful results."
🌸Hmm. What is this left-hand-twist they speak of? If you are a spinner you already know this. But for the rest of us, when yarn or thread is spun it can either be twisted to the right (Z twist) or left (S twist) (Please see picture.) The threads made are then twisted together in the opposite direction. The final twist for most commerical sewing thread is Z twist as that works better for sewing and quilting machines. But... Pice thread has an S twist, which makes it better for hand quilting. Fujix says it is less likely to tangle.
This has been my experience, too!
🌸I am offering this thread in four colors:
white
black
gray (shade 284 )
beige (shade 131 )
